Changing Lives With Generosity

Elise Levine

Elise Levine '03 leaves a lasting legacy through a revocable living trust to Mount St. Mary’s University.

Elise Levine '03 knew she eventually would need a college degree to accomplish all her goals. This idea truly hit home when her boss and mentor suggested that finishing her degree would lead to furthering her career aspirations.

As a working adult, she wondered where she would be able to accomplish this task. A friend suggested the Weekend College program at Mount St. Mary's University, and the rest is history.

Not only did she receive a bachelor of arts degree in gerontology and liberal arts from MSMU, but she also went on to receive her master's from USC. "The education the Mount gave me totally changed my life and created employment opportunities that otherwise would not have been there," says Levine.

She wanted to give back to the University, but she was uncertain about the timing and her finances. It was not until she was in the midst of creating a revocable living trust after both her parents passed away that she realized this was the perfect time. Although many people do not create revocable living trusts at such an early age, Levine took this opportunity to define her philanthropic desires. She left the University a gift to benefit the Weekend College program in her trust. "I wanted to give back and do something for the future," she says.

Her legacy to Mount St. Mary's University will have a lasting effect on the University and the students. Her generosity will change lives, just as her life was changed through a Mount education.
